Michael Botticelli, a well-known figure skater and coach at the William L. Chase Arena in Boston, Massachusetts, has passed away. He lost his battle with cancer on February 28, 2023, after a brave and determined effort.

Olympic skater Michael Botticelli lost his fight with brain cancer on Wednesday, March 1, according to a statement from US Figure Skating.

Michael C. Botticelli, an American figure skater who participated in pairs competitions with Sheryl Franks, was born on July 10, 1959, in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1977, the duo won the bronze medal four times at the US Figure Skating Championships. They also placed seventh at the 1980 Winter Olympics. At William L. Chase Arena, he was a coach.

He left a lasting mark on the skating community, and it will be challenging to match his excitement and energy both on and off the ice. He will be greatly missed by many. Many of these children truly felt like his own family to him. Many of the children who had him as a coach claimed that he improved the quality of their lives. He served as an example for them.
