Jerusalem, Sep 20 (IANS) Israel has declared that it will begin to deliver petroleum gas from a contested Mediterranean sea field “straightaway”, notwithstanding US-facilitated line division talks among Israel and Lebanon.

“The development of gas from the Karish apparatus will begin immediately, when it is conceivable,” Israeli State head Yair Lapid’s office said in a proclamation, adding the creation “isn’t associated with the exchanges (with Lebanon)”, Xinhua news organization revealed.

Israel guaranteed that the Karish field is situated inside its financial zone while Lebanon claims in questioned waters.

As per a report on Israel’s state-claimed Kan television news, the dealings have entered their “last stages” in the beyond couple of days.

“Israel accepts that it is both conceivable and important to agree on a sea line among Lebanon and Israel, in a way that will serve the interests of the residents of the two nations,” the Head of the state’s Office said.

Such an understanding will be “incredibly helpful and fortify local steadiness”, it added.
