Renowned comedian and Hi-De-Hi!, actress Ruth Maddock passed away on Friday, September 9, in the late afternoon. She was 79. Ruth passed away after collapsing earlier this week and was brought to the hospital.

Her withdrawal from the pantomime Aladdin at the Princess’ Theater in Torquay is due to an accident that results in her death.

The theatre group announced on Twitter on Thursday that “unfortunately, Ruth Maddock will no longer be returning from this year’s pantomime of Aladdin at the Princes Theater in Torquay” following a medical examination following an accident earlier this week.

Regarding the funeral arrangements, nothing is known. Everyone misses her and expresses their sorrow and memories of her on social media.

“She was a true legend in the British entertainment industry, a rare talent adored by many. She left way too soon. Our hearts are shattered.”

“Her son Rhys, daughter Lori, and the rest of their family are in my thoughts,” the speaker said.

Giles Brandreth, a broadcaster, tweeted: “This is extremely terrible news. Ruth was a kind person and an incredibly gifted performer.

Maddock was born in Norwich, where her parents practised medicine, on April 16, 1943. She was previously married to actor Philip Madoc and received her training at RADA in London.

Madoc was best known for playing Gladys Pugh, one of the leads in the television sitcom Hi-de-Hi, for which she was nominated for a BAFTA TV award for Best Light Entertainment Performance. The comedy occurred in Maplins, a make-believe summer camp from the 1950s.

She was well-known for her announcements on the camp tannoy with her trademark three notes played on a little xylophone. Madoc’s recurring part focused on her unrequited love for the camp entertainment manager Professor Jeffrey Fairbrother (Simon Cadell).

Additionally, she participated in the fourth season of the LivingTV reality competition I’m Famous and Frightened!, which she ultimately won. Ruth Madoc portrayed Fruma Sarah in the adaptation of the musical “Fiddler on the Roof” in 1971, and in the movie “Under Milk Wood” in 1972, she played Mrs Dai Bread Two.
